A little daily escape
In almost.earth, name the country or territory that has vanished in five guesses. There’s no timer, account, or leaderboard. Play each day’s shared puzzle, then explore unlimited practice. Win or lose, discover one surprising fact with a source to follow.
A real atlas beneath the surprises
Our maps use Natural Earth’s public-domain data and an Equal Earth projection. There are 252 selectable countries and territories, drawn from Natural Earth’s 1:10m country data and map units. England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland are separate answers, along with places such as Greenland, French Guiana, and Tokelau. Antarctica and unlisted regions provide geographic context. Zoom in to explore small islands, detailed coastlines, and enclaves.
Proximity uses sampled boundaries from that same snapshot, including islands and overseas regions. Distances are rounded and approximate, with samples no more than 2 km apart. These maps are for play and learning, not navigation or statements about political boundaries.
Free to explore
almost.earth is free to play. Advertising is currently disabled. If ads are introduced, display ads will sit away from controls, and occasional fullscreen ads will appear only between completed practice games. Daily play and the first game will stay uninterrupted. Declining optional tracking will leave the game playable.
